Digital Dozen Day 3: Abstract Nail Art

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

I love this month's Digital Dozen theme. Pattern on Pattern has been so much fun. I have tried a few different things and it's been a lot of fun challenging myself to think outside of the box.

Today's post is an abstract geometric design over an alcohol ink marbled background. If you have read recent posts, you will know that alcohol inks are my new go-to technique. You can read more about alcohol inks in a recent post.

My lines are a little rough, but for some reason I like the complete randomness of this design.

Let's take a look.

If you haven't tried alcohol ink, you should. It's actually easy if you have the right products. Color4Nails Nail Veil helps keep the dye off of your skin.

Pahlish February Duo - You Give Love! swatches

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Pahlish has created another duo and I am excited to share it with you. Angel's Smile and Shot Through the Heart are so complementary to each other. This duo,"You Give Love!" for February is subtle and classy.

These polishes applied wonderfully. There were no application issues and the abundance and variety of flakies in "Shot Through the Heart" are spot on.

Let's take a look at the February duo "You Give Love!"

Angel's Smile is a subtle, yet rich, eggshell nude with a mix of ultrafine copper and gold metallic flakes. The copper and gold metallic flakes keep it from being just another nude polish. The eggshell shade actually looks good with my skintone. Most nudes don't work on me. This is two coats with a top coat.

Shot Through the Heart is a soft holographic topcoat with a mix of copper, gold, taupe, and metallic multichrome flakes. It applied wonderfully and the flakes are not too shy to come out and play. This is one coat of Shot Through the Heart over Angel's Smile. I had no application issues.

Of course I had to try Shot Through the Heart by itself. This is four coats. I love the rosy shimmer.

This duo will definitely give you a lot of options. Shot Through the Heart will complement a lot of different shades.

I think this duo will be for sale at 7 p.m. CST, Friday, February 13, 2015.

Floral Themed Nail Art for Digital Dozen Day Two

It's day two of the Digital Dozen, This month's theme is Pattern on Pattern, and you know I couldn't make it very long without creating a floral.

So I created floral nail art over an alcohol ink marbled pattern. Alcohol ink is something I have fallen in love with. I thought it would be difficult, but it's actually very easy with the right tools! See my original post about it here.

I applied teakwood alcohol ink over a base color of Zoya Ana. Then, using acrylic paint, I added the flowers and leaves. I added a top coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl and I was done - so simple!

Are alcohol inks something you would try?

Zoya Ana was provided to me for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Please note that computer monitors may display colors differently. The remaining products and polishes were purchased by me.
