China Glaze Twinkle Collection for Holiday 2014: Swatches, review

Monday, November 3, 2014

It's that time of year again. It's hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner. In just a few weeks we will be stuffing ourselves with turkey. To celebrate the holidays China Glaze has released its holiday 2014 collection - Twinkle!

China Glaze® Twinkle features 11 new polishes and one effects top coat. I am going to show you six of them in this post. You can see the other six polishes here.

The formula on these polishes is great. I didn't have any issues. I did apply most of the glitter polishes over a base color though. That's just how I like them. There are some great polishes in this collection.

Let's take a look at the first half of this amazing, festive collection.

Chillin’ with My Snow-mies is a special effect glitter polish. It has multi-sized white snowflake overlay glitters. The glitters rest flat against the nail. It did take a little bit of glitter placement though; but that's pretty common for larger glitters. But I love the way it looks over Tip Your Hat.

Dancing & Prancing is  multi-color and size glitter polish. This would be great on it's own with a few coats. But I chose to apply it over I'd Melt For You. It applied easily and there wasn't much fishing for glitter involved. This is two light coats with a top coat over I'd Melt For You.

De-Light is a holographic gold glitter. The glitter is fine and delicate. It looks super rich over Define Good... This is one coat on the tips over Define Good. I also applied  top coat.

Define Good… is a sultry, shimmery cranberry shade. I love the name of this one too. I can just picture me answering that question. "Have I been good? Well... Define Good..." The shimmer in this polish gives it an amazing dimension and depth. This is two coats with a top coat applied.

I’d Melt For You is a silver chrome that has me ecstatic. I have tried lots of chromes before and they are so difficult to deal with - they show every flaw on my nails. But this one is amazing. I applied three thin coats over my bare nail. And while it shows a few brush strokes - it works amazingly well. I also tried it with a top coat. The top coat dulled it a little. But it would be well worth it if you wanted it to last a little longer. The photos here though are shown without top coat. This will be a chrome I will wear many times. I hope China Glaze makes more shades with this finish. I had to take extra photos of this beauty.

I had to try some nail art with some of these polishes. I started with a base color of Prim and added diagonal strokes of  Haven. Then I used Nail Vinyls in the opposite direction and used Willa. I like the way the alternating diagonal lines work with each other.
