China Glaze Avant Garden collection swatches - Pastel Petals

Sunday, February 3, 2013

China Glaze has a new Spring 2013 collection and it will be available for purchase in March. Avant Garden is a glorious, romantic collection of soft, sensuous shades designed to make you feel seductive and sexy. This part of the collection is Pastel Petals. Six glorious shades invite you to explore your soft side.

These polishes have a wonderful formula. For most of the polishes two coats provided amazing coverage. Some are a phenomenal cream finish and some are a satiny shimmer.

Let's move on to the swatches. These are two coats unless otherwise noted. No top coat has been applied.

Keep Calm, Paint On - is a gorgeous light sea foam green. It was extremely shy for the camera though. I love the shimmery goodness of this polish.

Life is Rosy - is a gorgeous blushed mauve shade. There is plenty of color in this one. What a wondrous shade of polish.

Dandy Lyin’ Around - is a shimmery vanilla icing shade. Tons of shimmer are jam packed in this polish. It's like Tinkerbell loaned China Glaze her fairy dust. I used three coats for this polish.

Pink-ie Promise - Iridescent baby pink with tons of shimmer.

Tart-y for the Party  - Light lavender creme is glorious, yet soft. Want to go soft yet make a statement? This one is for you.

Fade Into Hue - is a wondrous periwinkle creme polish. I love this shade. It is a simple, yet seductive polish.

These polishes are amazing. I can't wait to wear them more. Stay tuned for more polish swatches from the Avant Garden Collection. Coming up next are the Blooming Brights collection. I think you will enjoy those too. Stay tuned!

These polishes were sent to me for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Baltimore Ravens are going to the Super Bowl

Saturday, February 2, 2013

I had to create some nail art to celebrate the Ravens going to the Super Bowl. While I was rooting for the Broncos my son is a diehard Ravens fan so that is who I will be rooting for tomorrow.

Zoya Raven, Ziv, Suri and Purity were the perfect colors for creating this nail art.

I used a base color of Suri for the purple and Raven for the black base color on the accent nail. I added stripes with a MASH Nail art brush. Then I outlined the shape of the raven with Suri. It was detailed work but just took time. I added the beak with Purity and then outlined the  raven with Ziv. I added a dot for the eye. I kind of like how it came out!

Abstract nail art with holo

Friday, February 1, 2013

My creativity meter seems to have pegged. I just can't seem to come up with anything. So I decided to do abstract nail art. The wonderful thing about abstract nail art is that you don't have to have a specific design and the designs don't have to be perfect. Just run with it!

I applied a base color of Zoya Suri. It's a wonderful shade of vivid, shimmery purple. Then I used a MASH Nails nail art brush and added Color Club Eternal Beauty holographic polish to add random stripes. I used a striping brush from the MASH Nails set to add outlining stripes with Zoya Trixie.

Then, using a dotting tool I added random stripes of complementary dots with Trixie.

I am actually pleased with how this came out. The holographic stripes add depth to the nail art.
