Venique polishes make for a great checkerboard mani

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Venique is a favorite polish of mine. I recently purchased their new collection Venique Goes Hollywood and I love these foil polishes.

I used two of the shades for this checkerboard mani. These polishes worked superb for this as one coat worked nicely. Reels of Fun is the silver foil and Acting is Living is the purple foil. I will share the others with you soon.

I used scotch tape to make this design. It's always a fun nail art method. How would you use these foil polishes?

Venique polishes can be purchased at CosmoProf or fine salons.

China Glaze Tranzitions review and swatches

China Glaze has released its Tranzitions collection. Six colors that are designed to shift color with a top coat.

I received the collection to share with you. The polish was easy to apply and had a decent dry time. I do recommend using a really good smoothing base coat unless you have extremely smooth nails. I have horrible ridges and these polishes do tend to show any nail flaws. I was surprised they show the ridges as the polish is not a thin formula.

I used China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat to activate the color changing qualities of the polish.

Let's move on to the swatches.

Altered Reality - is a gorgeous emerald green. Although the color doesn't change significantly on this one. I used the top coat on the ring finger and it is only slightly noticeable. But this is one of my favorite shades of the collection. Even if it doesn't shift color significantly.

Duplicityy - is a minty green cream polish. This one did change colors to a deeper mint green. A nice color if you want to get two polishes in one. One shade without top coat and another one with a top coat.

Matallic Metamorphosis - is a a shimmery steely gray shade. The shift is very slight. You can see it on the tips of my nails. It shifts to an almost black shade.

Modify Me - is a pretty periwinkle blue shade that shifts to a light purple with a top coat. I would use two coats of top coat though as it is slightly streaky with one coat. I used a nail art brush and made a vertical line on each nail and a solid coat on the ring finger.

China Glaze Split Pers-nail-ity - is a dusty rose shade that shifts to a deep and shiny almost burgundy shade. This shade is one of the better color shifting polishes.

Shape Shifter - is a shimmery purple with shades of gray. I applied the top coat as a diagonal tip and a solid coat on my ring finger. It shifts to a deep grape purple shade.

These polishes have varying degrees of color shift. Several of them will be great for those who want to have two colors in one bottle. Change your polish color by simply adding a top coat. The colors are nice on their own also.

ILNP New Year's polish review and swatches

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Happy New Year! I hope 2013 brings you a happy family, good health and favorable luck.

I received three of the polishes from I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) New Year collection and couldn't wait to share them with you.

ILNP are three-free. The ILNP New Year's Collection is available on her Etsy shop for $10 per bottle. Like her previous collections, this one consists of six lovely and versatile polishes that work well alone or over your favorite base colors!

The packaging and bottles are adorable.

The formula on these polishes is nice. The glitter applies evenly and the dry time is decent. It may take a little longer than some but not enough to deter me. I didn't have to "fish" for glitter.

Let's move on to the swatches.

A Nice Chianti - is a burgundy multi-sized glitter. I applied it over Barielle Remember Me. This is one coat of A Nice Chianti. I love the subtle look the polish has here.

Little Mermaid - is a multi-color fine glitter. It has primarily blue glitter and just enough of different colors to add depth. I used a cosmetic sponge to apply it to the nail tips. I applied it over Venique Diamond Kisses.

Purple Stuff - is my favorite of the bunch! The glitter is different sizes, shapes, and colors. I have it on here over Essie St. Lucia Lilac. I didn't have to "fish" for glitter. I love this combination.

After trying these three colors I will definitely try more of her polishes. These polishes are available on her Etsy page for $10 each or $50 for the collection of six.
