A bird on the hand is worth...

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I love nail art. And sometimes it works out for me. This bluebird in the tree makes me happy. Although, I should have left the bird on the index finger alone. I tried to add wings and now he looks like a phoenix.

This is going to be a quick post. I know everyone is busy with back-to-school and daily activities.

I used the stunning Elevation Polish "Tre Clime di Lavaredo" for the base color. This holographic gold is perfect to wear on its own or as a base for nail art.

I used acrylic paint for the trees and the bird. The trees were pretty easy. Just a few lines and dots of different colors.

The bird on the index nail was pretty similar to the one on the ring finger. But trying to add wings definitely changed his appearance.

I sealed it with a top coat of HK Girl, which is one of my all-time favorite top coats.

The Electric You Collection - A collaboration from Color4Nails and Celestial Cosmetics

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

I love holographic polishes, and this Electric You Collaboration Collection from Color4Nails and Celestial Cosmetics is no exception. These bright, neon, holographic polishes are sure to shock your senses with a fantastic pop of color.

Let's take a look. Oh, and you may want to grab your sunglasses! I swatched all of these over white polish. If you don't want to layer, you don't have to. But layering it over white will show the true neon colors.

Adrenalin is a light neon green that is chock-full of linear holographic shimmer. The glimmer of the holo is mind blowing. I used two coats over white for this swatch.

Merge is a vibrant hot pink linear holographic shade that is sure to grab attention. This will look amazing on the beach, or by the pool. I used two coats over white for this swatch.

Singularity is a gorgeous bright neon purple with a mesmerizing linear holographic effect. This polish is a prototype that didn't make the grade to be part of the Electric You collection, but is such a beautiful color that had to be shared. Disclaimer: This polish will apply smoothly, but will occasionally present with tiny lumps of pigment once on the nail. It will not damage your nail in any way, nor is it easily noticeable. I can't see any lumps of pigment on my nails at all and I did not apply a top coat. It will be priced at $8.

And of course I had to try some of these in nail art. Take a look at the water marble accent nail. I love it!

Tape and holographic polish create gorgeous geometric glam

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

I love holographic nail polish. It is glorious to see in the sunshine, although I haven't seen much of the sun this week. But in the hopes that it would peek its yellow rays out to say "hello," I put on a holo nail polish.

Dance Legend has some of the most amazing holographic polishes out there. I only have a few of them, and I love each and every one of them. For this mani, I wanted something a little beyond just holographic. But not too complicated as I just didn't have the time to invest in nail art. So I created a simple tape mani.

For the base coat I used Barielle Blue Capri. Then I used nail art tape in horizontal and vertical placement. After that, I simply applied Dance Legend Optical Illusion and removed the tape - Instant nail art!

If you love nail art, but don't feel you have the time - try the nail art tape as a template. You will love it!

Colors by llarowe - Tribute to Michael Jackson Collection (Photo Heavy)

Friday, August 16, 2013

A Tribute to Michael Jackson - a new collection by Colors by llarowe. This amazing collection pays homage to the King of Pop. These colors will definitely "pop" when you wear them. September 18th marks the 25th anniversary of MJ's release of the "Bad" album.

These swatches are two coats (with the exception of Man in the Mirror) with a top coat. The photos were taken with an indirect flash. I haven't had too much sun lately so I couldn't show you the colors in the sunshine. But the colors are glorious and the holo is not shy. The formula on these is great. They have a decent dry time and apply wonderfully!

Let's move straight to the swatches - and the references to MJ's songs.

Thriller - is a thrilling holo teal shade. It's a subtle holo. But it's a "thriller, thriller night. And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike. You know it's thriller, thriller night. You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight."

Dirty Diana - is a gorgeous magenta holo. I positively love this one! "I'll Be Your Everything -
If You Make Me A Star" and this one will definitely make you a star!

Man in the Mirror - is a dense silver micro glitter with holo micro glitter. "I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror. I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways." This one is as glitzy as MJ's glove. You can see the holo shimmer in a few of the pics. I did use three coats of this but I probably could have only used two. You can use it alone or over another polish.

Smooth Criminal - is blue purple - okay it's a blurple - holo. (Could this be a dupe for OPI DS Glamour?) "She Was Struck Down, It Was Her Doom." I am pretty sure the power of the holo in this one could strike you down.

Beat It - is a charcoal holo with blue flash. It is truly stunning and has amazing holo. "No One Wants To Be Defeated. Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight. It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right." All I know is you can't go wrong with this one!

Billie Jean - is described as a magenta crelly with intense golden red to green shimmer. "She Was More Like A Beauty Queen From A Movie Scene." The name definitely fits this polish. But I think it is more of a deep crimson red more than a magenta.

Bad - is a gorgeous indigo with flashes of pink. This could easily be a one coater but I used two. It applies silky and smoothly. It doesn't have a super glossy finish so you will want to use a top coat. But I always use a top coat so that isn't a problem for me. "You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad. You Know It." The song says it all about this polish.

Black or White - has a clear base with multi sized and shaped black and white glitters and black and white dot glitter. It went on evenly and the polish laid flat against the nail. I did have to shake it several times between nails to make sure I got a good mix of glitters. I love the round glitters! I applied it over Colors by llarowe "Melon Wine."
