Colors by llarowe - Tribute to Michael Jackson Collection (Photo Heavy)

Friday, August 16, 2013

A Tribute to Michael Jackson - a new collection by Colors by llarowe. This amazing collection pays homage to the King of Pop. These colors will definitely "pop" when you wear them. September 18th marks the 25th anniversary of MJ's release of the "Bad" album.

These swatches are two coats (with the exception of Man in the Mirror) with a top coat. The photos were taken with an indirect flash. I haven't had too much sun lately so I couldn't show you the colors in the sunshine. But the colors are glorious and the holo is not shy. The formula on these is great. They have a decent dry time and apply wonderfully!

Let's move straight to the swatches - and the references to MJ's songs.

Thriller - is a thrilling holo teal shade. It's a subtle holo. But it's a "thriller, thriller night. And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike. You know it's thriller, thriller night. You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight."

Dirty Diana - is a gorgeous magenta holo. I positively love this one! "I'll Be Your Everything -
If You Make Me A Star" and this one will definitely make you a star!

Man in the Mirror - is a dense silver micro glitter with holo micro glitter. "I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror. I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways." This one is as glitzy as MJ's glove. You can see the holo shimmer in a few of the pics. I did use three coats of this but I probably could have only used two. You can use it alone or over another polish.

Smooth Criminal - is blue purple - okay it's a blurple - holo. (Could this be a dupe for OPI DS Glamour?) "She Was Struck Down, It Was Her Doom." I am pretty sure the power of the holo in this one could strike you down.

Beat It - is a charcoal holo with blue flash. It is truly stunning and has amazing holo. "No One Wants To Be Defeated. Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight. It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right." All I know is you can't go wrong with this one!

Billie Jean - is described as a magenta crelly with intense golden red to green shimmer. "She Was More Like A Beauty Queen From A Movie Scene." The name definitely fits this polish. But I think it is more of a deep crimson red more than a magenta.

Bad - is a gorgeous indigo with flashes of pink. This could easily be a one coater but I used two. It applies silky and smoothly. It doesn't have a super glossy finish so you will want to use a top coat. But I always use a top coat so that isn't a problem for me. "You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad. You Know It." The song says it all about this polish.

Black or White - has a clear base with multi sized and shaped black and white glitters and black and white dot glitter. It went on evenly and the polish laid flat against the nail. I did have to shake it several times between nails to make sure I got a good mix of glitters. I love the round glitters! I applied it over Colors by llarowe "Melon Wine."

Water marbling with holo polish

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

I had to try it. Just once... Water marbling with holo polish. It is a bit different.

I got through two nails before I finally got it semi-right on the third. So I started over...

I used Color Club Halo Hues; Halo-Graphic and Over The Moon and China Glaze; Highlight Of My Summer and Bottoms Up. Some people think it takes a large amount of polish to water marble. I haven't found that to be the case. I use a small bowl and a drop of polish per "ring."

The holo spread on the water's surface extremely quickly so I had to move really fast. Overall I am pleased with how this water marble came out.

Will I do this again? Probably for a special occasion that is outdoors.

On a side note - that is my new and beloved Pandora Charm Bracelet. I can't wait to get more charms! My husband bought some for me. I bought the USAF charm and a wonderful friend got me the fish charm.

Orly Sparkling Garbage - It's not garbage!

Saturday, June 22, 2013

Orly has a new summer 2013 collection out - Mash Up. I only picked up one of the polishes from the collection - Sparkling Garbage. I can tell you one thing... it isn't garbage.

This is a bottle jam-packed full of holographic goodness. It is a soft green jelly polish that is infused with sparkly, holographic shimmer and shine.

It is rather sheer since it's a jelly, but three coats provided a level of opacity that I like. You could also use this as a top coat. It adds dimension and depth to the overall look.

Let's move on to the swatches. This is three coats.

Girly Bits polish will leave you 'Twitterpated'

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

I received some exciting polishes from Girly Bits. I couldn't wait to share one of them with you so I am devoting this post to Twitterpated.

I fell in love with the color and the name immediately. Twitterpated is one of my favorite lines from the movie classic "Bambi."

Flower and Thumper are asking Friend Owl why two birds are fluttering about. . .

Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.
Flower, Thumper, Bambi
: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl
: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!

That's pretty much exactly what happened to me when I saw this pretty polish. I got Twitterpated!

Twitterpated - is a gorgeous, shimmery, light purple foil/holographic polish from the P.S. I Love You Collection. The shades of lavender are classy and full of springtime cheer and has a lovely pink shimmer. The holographic shimmer is a gorgeous and adds to the overall look to this polish.

I couldn't decide which swatches to share so I am sharing several of them with you.

Two coats gave me wonderful opacity. I did not use a top coat with this and look at that shine. It's a keeper formula - Fast drying and easy application.
