Fall leaves nail art

Saturday, September 15, 2012

The weather is getting cooler and the air is crisper. The leaves on the trees are starting to turn. Soon we will take a drive through the mountains and see the Aspens and their glorious colors.

The idea of that made me want try to capture some of the Fall season with nail art. Mother Nature is hard to recreate though. I should have used some brighter colors but I do like how it turned out.

I used Hits Topazio for the base color. Then I drew the tree limbs and trunks with a black striping brush. Then using a nail art brush I drew the leaves (Just simple swipes of the brush). Zoya Colbie, and China Glaze Harvest Moon and Unplugged were the colors I used for the leaves.

I may have to do something like this for Halloween and try to make it spooky.

Hits Holographic = holographic bliss

Thursday, July 12, 2012

The Hits No Olimpo Collection - These polishes were the first ones on my "must have" list. These polishes are a holographic party in a bottle. If you have tried any of them I am sure you will agree. The most popular is Hits Hefesto. It's an amazing top coat that will make any color holographic. If you have to have one of these - Hefesto is the one. But I love all of them.

Hits polishes are available at Llarowe. Llarowe is a one-stop shop for specialty nail polishes that aren't readily available in stores.

I know you want to get to the swatches. Right? So let's get right to it!

Hits Afrodite is a luscious shade of pink with a gorgeous holographic sheen to it. Wait... all of these polishes have a heavenly holographic shimmer and shine.

Hits Zeus is a classy black polish that shimmers with the prisms of a rainbow. It's one of my favorites.

Hits Hermes is probably not a polish I would have picked from the bottle. But oh my gosh. It's a gorgeous tan or beige polish that provides the perfect medium to allow the holographic particles to be the star of the show.

Bottom line: Hits is one of my favorite brands. But this line is the best of the best. Class and elegance, and superb shimmer are defined in the holographics. These are available at shop.llarowe.com for $10

Using Hits for dotting flower nail art.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

After swatching like crazy I wanted to do something special. So I decided to leave on Chayene 04 and add flowers with the Hits polishes. I love it!

I used Hits Chayene 04 for the base color.
Hits Pedra Do Sol and Alana for the flowers.
Hits Chayene 02 for the flower's center.

I love the look. I will definitely add these to my nail art idea book.

Dotting is a relatively easy method of nail art. Let me know what you think please.

I love the Hits brand of polish. So I really enjoyed swatching these polishes for you.

Hits polishes are available at Llarowe. Llarowe is a one-stop shop for specialty nail polishes that aren't available in stores.

These polishes provide great coverage. I had one really wonky brush, but the remainder of the brushes were good.

I know you want me to just skip the babbling and move on to the swatches. All of the swatches below are two coats and no top coat. Oh, and in case you had any doubts the blue is my favorite.

Pedra Do Sol is a gorgeous bright blue polish. It is my favorite of the bunch.

Hits Mari Moon - Swatches

Saturday, July 7, 2012

Duo-chromes, multi-chromes... who doesn't love them? They are positively wonderful with a subtle color shift and shimmer and shine on every nail.

Hits Mari Moon is a good example of this magical color shifting polish. This polish applies easily and dries quickly. They have drastically improved their brushes also. Gone are the wild-bristled brushes and the new ones are smooth and even.

Hits Mari Moon polishes are available at Llarowe. Llarowe is a one-stop shop for specialty nail polishes that aren't available in stores.

Let's move on to the swatches.

I now think I have a new polish in my top five favorites. Cutie Pie is a vibrant, rich polish that shifts from blue to a rich purple/pink. Just slightly moving your hand provides a full spectrum of the duo-chrome magic.

Hits Mari Moon Cool is a wonderful fresh shade of green that shifts to a sapphire blue. Again it is a subtle shift that is mesmerizing.

Mari Moon Artsy is a deep blue/purple that shifts to a purple/pink. It is similar to Cutie Pie but the shift is much more subtle.

Mari Moon Trendy is similar to cool. However the green has a little more yellow in it making it a brighter shade. Again, a shift that is subtle yet noticeable.

Daring is a subdued blue that shifts to a deep pink/purple. This polish has almost a gray sheen that gives it a classy, subtle appearance.

Mari Moon Dreamer is similar to Cutie Pie but the color is a more vibrant purple. Simply gorgeous.

Bottom line: Hits overall is a wonderful brand of polish. But the Mari Moon line is a favorite of mine. Subtle shifts in color and a quick and easy application make this polish a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. Hits Mari Moon iis available at shop.llarowe, com for $8. A very affordable multi-chrome polish.

Hits Hefesto = Homerun

Sunday, March 18, 2012

I was trying to decide what to do with my manicure. I had Fingerpaints "Art You Blue" on and couldn't decide if I wanted to do a scotch tape mani or stamp over it.

Then I remembered I had a bottle of Hits Hefesto that I hadn't tried yet. I was waiting to use it when sun was going to be shining bright and would show the luscious holographic goodness even more. But after I remembered I had it the bottle called my name. Hefesto is a holographic top coat that allows you to make any polish or color holographic.

The result? I love it. Of course now I look at the weather and it is supposed to snow tonight. But as long as the sun is out I will be happy. I am keeping my fingers (with holographic prism nails) crossed.

Hits Hefesto didn't disappoint me. It surpassed what I thought it would be. It transformed a dark blue polish into a holographic wonderland. The brush from Hefesto was wonderful and had even bristles. The application was smooth.

Anyone who has ever tried to capture holographic polish with a camera lens knows the frustration involved in catching the prisms.

Final recommendation? If you only get one Hits No Olimpo polish Hefesto is the one to get. Of course if you are like me you will get all of them.

Hits Hefesto retails for $10 and is available from select online stores. Although it's usually out of stock. I got mine at llarowe.com.

Happy Polishing!

Kelly

Update

I had to add the photo at the bottom. This is in artificial light. It is amazing! I may not even be able to watch TV if I keep staring at my nails.

Hits "Hera" = "Happiness in a bottle"

Friday, March 9, 2012

I had Hits Hera in my stash for a while and didn't want to use any of my holo polish until it was sunny. I checked the weather last night and today's forecast was 55 and sunny. Thank goodness for this weather. The Wyoming winter was getting old.

But I digress...

I pulled out my Hits Hera and went to work polishing. First off let me tell you the application was amazing. The only problem I had was the brush wasn't the best. But it wasn't the worst either. I managed.

I applied a base coat of Seche Vite and two coats of this happiness in a bottle called Hits "Hera."

It was after dark when I applied the wonderful teal holo to my nails. I placed my hands under an artificial light and was astounded at the glimmer, shimmer and pure holographic joy that was on my fingertips. Then I applied a top coat of Seche Vite. I had read several posts on the Internet that top coats dulled the "holo" in holographic polishes. I sure didn't notice if it did.

I stared at my manicure a couple of hours and then went to bed and dreamed of rainbows, glitter and all that is good (Okay, I made this part up.)

As I walked to my car to go to work this morning I held my hand out to admire my new polish. WOW! If it was glimmery and shimmery at night then in daylight it was pure heaven and stars.

In sunlight

I can't wait to try my other Hits polishes. The weather is supposed to be glorious through the middle of next week. :)

I tried to capture the brilliance of this polish with the camera but somethings, like rainbows, simply can't be captured.

Happy Polishing!

Kelly
