Colors by llarowe - Stormy Skies for the June A Box, Indied swatches, review

Sunday, May 10, 2015

Today I have the Colors by llarowe polish for the June 2015 A Box, Indied. Stormy Skies is a gorgeous sea-water blue polish with shimmers.

The theme for June's A Box, Indied is nautical. I can't wait to see the other contributions for this box.

This polish is an amazing blue - it is a little deeper than an ocean blue. But that fits the name of Stormy Skies. It has the deep blue of the sky and the rosy pink shimmer that shows in the sky when the storm is over.

Let's take a look. This is three coats with a top coat. I had no issues with application. Unfortunately, it's been snowy here and the sun has decided to hide. So there are no sunshots to share with you.

Colors by llarowe "Luke, I am Your Father" for May, A Box, Indied

Monday, April 13, 2015

Today I have the Colors by llarowe polish for the May 2015 A Box, Indied. Luke, I am Your Father is a black linear holographic polish.

Well Hello Star Wars! This polish is definitely suited to the movie. This line between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in "The Empire Strikes Back" is one that will live forever. But I have to add that the quote is also one of the most misquoted lines in movie history. It is actually "No, I am your father." But that just doesn't have as much oomph, does it?

But I digress, let's look at this holographic black polish. The arcs are mostly blue, which gives it a blue tone in some lights. The prisms shine bright and bold and are a force to be reckoned with. The formula was great. I used two coats and a top coat for the swatches.

I am loving the polishes I have seen for May's box. They are all pretty amazing. That this one has so many personalities  - subtle and classy indoors, yet bubbly and vivacious in the sun.

The theme for May's box is May the Fourth Be With You and will also include offerings from Girly Bits (See my post on the Girly Bits polish here.), Different Dimension, Contrary Polish and Glisten & Glow.

A Box, Indied retails for $50 and will launch April 26th at Llarowe.com - at Noon and 7 p.m. MDT.

Girly Bits 'I Like Big Buns' for May A Box, Indied

Sunday, April 12, 2015

Today, I have a polish for the May A Box, Indied subscription box - this one is I Like Big Buns from Girly BitsThe theme for the May box is "May the Fourth Be With You." And where do you think she got the name for this polish? You guessed it... Princess Leia.

Let's take a look at this sensational brown shimmery polish.

I Like Big Buns is a warm chocolate brown. It is packed full of brown and wine shimmer and has violet and blue sparks. I had no issues with application. I used three thin coats of polish and a top coat. There are lots of pictures below. I tried to narrow it down, but each photo seems to show a different characteristic of the polish.

Quite Ribbiting - Pahlish contribution to April 2015 A Box, Indied

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Today, I have the Pahlish contribution for the March A Box, Indied subscription box to share with you.
The theme for April's box is April Fools and the polish I am going to be showing you is Quite Ribbiting. Which really is quite riveting...

Quite Ribbiting is an intense turquoise shade with scattered holographic with an amazing heavy teal and blue shimmer. This is my kind of shade. While I have seen some swatches of the other polish contributions and they are gorgeous, I can honestly say, in my opinion, that this is the polish that would be THE polish to have from this box. It's holographic and a teal turquoise? Yes, please.

This is two coats with a top coat. There were no application issues at all. It applied smoothly and evenly and it didn't leave any color behind - as some shades like this may.

Let's take a look. I don't have any sun shots of this polish. But I will grab some for you this weekend - just in case you are still on the fence. I am traveling for work this week and won't be able to get the sun shots until then. So these are shown with artificial light.

Edited to include sun shots...

Look at this amazing polish in the sun!

Pahlish: Fields of Gold - A Boxed, Indied Exclusive swatches

Monday, February 9, 2015

I'm thrilled to be able to share a March A Box, Indied exclusive with you today. It's Fields of Gold, by Pahlish.

The theme for the March box is "Lucky Charms." And what could be luckier than Fields of Gold. Don't we all wish we could find one? This polish is a burnished gold with tiny holographic bits. These little bits add so much to this polish. The gold flakies are mesmerizing and the subtle holo sheen is magical.

Let's take a look at Fields of Gold. This is three coats with a top coat. Two coats would suffice though. Although you could just use it as a topcoat if you want. I had no issues with application and the flakes were oh-so-easy to work with.

I love this polish. Just calling it "gold" isn't enough. The color shifts from bronze to gold and the holographic shimmer is just phenomenal.

Colors by Llarowe Magically Delicious: March Exclusive for A Box, Indied swatches, review

Sunday, February 8, 2015

Today, I have the Colors by Llarowe polish for the March A Box, Indied subscription box to share with you.

The theme for the March box is "Lucky Charms." Colors by Llarowe Magically Delicious is a scrumptious light, soft purple, linear holographic polish. The prisms shine with blue, green, pink, purple and gold.

Now, you may be asking since this is a St. Patricks Day theme - why is the polish purple? Take a look at the Lucky Charms cereal. The horseshoe shaped marshmallows in the cereal are purple. Lucky Charms is such a fun cereal; although I haven't had it in the house in years.

The polish applies easily and smoothly. I used two coats and a top coat for the swatches. The linear holographic sheen really comes to life in the sun. It's also gorgeous in standard indoor lighting.

This is Magically Delicious in indoor lighting.

A Box, Indied Exclusive: Elevation Polish Rose Cardamom Chocolate Truffles

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Today's post is all about a gorgeous, shimmery brown polish called Rose Cardamom Chocolate Truffles from Elevation Polish.

This polish is a gorgeous deep chocolate brown with tiny holographic shimmers and rose tinted flakies. The shimmers are gorgeous and there is just enough holographic sparkle to add a seriously classy look. This polish applied super easy and was opaque in two coats. It will only be available in the February A Box, Indied from Llarowe.

This seriously makes me want some chocolate truffles - rich, sweet and creamy delicious. The inspiration was perfect for this polish. I love everything about this polish. The ingredients in this confection are perfectly balanced.

I used two coats with a top coat of HK Girl for the swatches below. But you may be able to get away with one coat of this polish if you tried.
