Foiled by a tree: Holiday nail art

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

I have a love/hate relationship with nail art foil. I love it, and it usually hates me. However, I had an idea and I just had to try it.

I decided to create a simple, abstract gold Christmas tree over a deep red polish. I am oh-so-pleased with the results!

I started out with two coats of Sheswai Honeyfox. It is the perfect shade of red - at least I think so. Then I used a nail foil glue and painted a swishy line back and forth. (Yes, that's a technical term.) The glue I used is the kind that dries clear and stays tacky. I let it dry until completely clear and pressed a small piece of Salon Perfect Nail Foils to the nail. I rubbed my finger over the top to make sure it was adhered to the nail well. I peeled off the foil and peeked (I was afraid to look.) But it worked well!

Then I decided I couldn't leave well enough alone and tried to add "icicles." I like it much better without the icicles.

What do you think? This was so easy and the end result is simple and elegant.

Day Five of the Seven Days of Floral Nail Art Tutorials - Dots

Monday, May 13, 2013

I have had fun with the Seven Days of Nail Art tutorials. Just a couple more days to go. For this one I did a simple dotted nail art floral design.

I started out with a base color of Sheswai Ladylike from the 2013 Summer Collection. I love this dusty rose shade. It can easily be a one-coater!

The design is truly a simple creation. Use a dotting tool and create several circles of petals. This will be the main petals of your design. I used acrylic paint.

Use a smaller dotting tool and dot white dots on the inside part of the blue dots.

And with an even smaller dotting tool create an inner ring of smaller petals with the blue paint.

I used a bright yellow dot in the center of each flower.

Then I added some green leaves and some random dots to finish the look off. Flowers are so forgiving as nail art. So don't be afraid to go for it!

And don't forget to check out Sheswai lacquers. They have a wonderful formula. You can get them at BeautyPopShop.com.

Sheswai 2013 Spring Summer polish collection

Sunday, February 24, 2013

I am excited to share some exciting new colors with you. Sheswai has released their 2013 Spring and Summer polishes. This season we are seeing tons of pastel shades for Spring. Sheswai has gone out of the box with bold, yet Spring colors.

I love Sheswai polish. Their formulas are amazing. I think I could probably get away with one coat on most of them. And the dry time is phenomenally quick.

Lets move on to the swatches.

Ladylike - is a coral-hued medium pink with some shimmer in it. It is a amazing dusty rose shade and I probably could have gotten away with one coat if I didn't have so many ridges in my nails. This is two coats

Dig it - is a true grass green. The formula is amazing as it dries to a high gloss and has rich color tones. This is two coats.

I wanted to try something with these polishes as the colors screamed "Floral" at me. So I dotted some flowers and leaves.

Sheswai "Rootsy" perfect for Fall season

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I received a lovely polish to share with you. I have tried one Sheswai polish previously and the formula was amazing. This one was just as wonderful and the color is fantastic.

Sheswai Rootsy is a marvelous autumn color. The color reminds me of the shade of Henna. It's a rich caramel brown with red undertones. Two coats were all I needed on this amazing polish. And I probably could have gotten away with one coat.

The dry time was phenomenal.  As I was working to complete my manicure I banged my fingernail against the table. With a slew of words that I won't repeat here I hurried to survey the damage. There wasn't even a dent! This was a wonderful surprise to me as normally banging my nail against something means I will have to start that nail over.

You can get this polish from BeautyPopShop.com for $16. BeautyPopShop is a jewel among the online stores. They sell Indie polishes and lip gloss as well as some amazing polish and makeup storage racks that lend style and fashion to you storage methods. I have ordered a polish rack and as soon as it arrives and is in its permanent location I will be sharing photos of it with you.

Let me share the swatches with you. I love this color as it is unlike any other that I own. The bottles are adorable with their wooden caps and the gorgeous gold imprint.

Bottom line: These polishes are worth the money. They have a fantastic formula and the color is rich and pure. Now that I have tried a couple of them I will be adding more of these to my collection.
