Illamasqua Paranormal - Ouija

Sunday, May 19, 2013

Transmit your acceptance of the paranormal by wearing these otherworldly Nail Varnishes. These 3 new shades and Top Coat not only offer a vivid burst of color in the normal world, but also glow under UV black light, revealing an alternative, paranormal effect unknown to the naked eye.
  • Omen Paranormal bright green
  • Ouija Paranormal bright pink
  • Séance Paranormal bright violet

Paranormal UV Nail Varnish (Limited Edition)

I snagged all three of these polishes. I have only had time to swatch one of them for you as Spring had sprung here. Yard work and flowers have been requiring more of my time. But it was a good test for this amazing polish. This mani survived two days of digging in the dirt and planting 50 or more flowers and eight trees.

I used two coats of Illamasqua Ouija for the base color and dotted Omen and Seance on in a scattered manner. The Seance really didn't show well though. Ouija is a phenomenal pink with amazing foil flaked shimmer.

The formula on these is amazing. Wonderful even application and a quick dry time. I didn't use the Paranormal UV top coat though.

This polish was purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Day Seven of the Seven Days of Floral Nail Art Tutorials - Glitter flowers

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

The time has flown by. It's Day Seven of the Seven Days of Floral Nail Art Tutorials. Today is glitter flowers. Simple flowers with a fun touch of a holographic micro glitter.

I started out with Illamasqua Poke. It's  a gorgeous shimmery deep purple polish. My mani was several days old before I added the flowers. Nail art is a great way to spruce up a manicure.

Then I used a lighter shade of purple acrylic paint to create flower petals and a dark blue for the flower centers. These flowers are super easy to create.

Then I used Nicole OPI Make A Comet-Ment holographic micro glitter over the purple petals. It adds a flashy flair to the look.

Have you used nail art to spruce up your current mani? What's your favorite method?

Illamasqua - Generation Q swatches

Thursday, September 27, 2012

I recently purchased two polishes from the Illamasqua Generation Q collection - Charisma and Creator. I am excited to share them with you.

"Generation Q is a clear message to everybody, everywhere that beauty is not young, old, black, white, male or female, but anything, everything and everyone," - Illamasqua website.

I love these polishes. The formula is phenomenal. Both polishes applied wonderfully and the dry time was pretty speedy.

Charisma is a gorgeous shade of berry wine. It has a generous amount of shimmer added to it. The first coat makes you wonder how many coats it will take. But amazingly the second coat provided an fantastic opaque finish. I didn't use a top coat on these swatches.

Creator is a jet black base with small multi size silver glitter. Again as I was applying the first coat it looked pretty sheer. The second coat provided wonderful coverage with lots of silver glitz. No top coat is used on these swatches.

18KT gold flake topcoat by Sephora by OPI

Friday, June 22, 2012

I got this amazing topcoat for my birthday. Of course it probably helped that I emailed my husband the link. But hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do! I can't believe I have real gold flakes on my nails.

I applied this amazing top coat over Illamasqua "Phallic" and I have to say I love the combination. The gold flakes applied evenly and there was no need to go "fishing for flakes."  It also had a fast dry time. There's not much more to say about this top coat. It is available from for $30. Pricey, but I think my husband got off relatively cheap!

Illamasqua swatches - silky and mesmerizing

Monday, May 21, 2012

I received my first Illamasqua polishes in the mail today and couldn't wait to swatch them.

Illamasqua is a relatively new brand - three years old. and to become such a sought after brand in just a short time is astonishing.

I received the following polishes:

Untold: A rich red glitter polish. The glitter is a fine glitter that reminds me of the slippers Dorothy wore in the "Wizard of Oz." I can't wait to layer this heavenly glitter.

Poke: A phenomenal purple with shimmers of blue throughout. It almost has a deep lilac hue to it.

Phallic: My favorite of the bunch. A deep majestic, navy blue. It has flashes of the most vibrant sapphire blue throughout.

These polishes went on oh so silky. I was amazed by the formula. Decent dry time and wonderful pigments. The glitter in the Untold polish went on smooth and even.

Needless to say, this polish is going to be a staple in my polish arsenal. Now, on to the photos! These are all two coats with no top coat.

Phallic - This inside photo makes it look almost black.

Phallic - In the photo in the sunlight you can see the sapphire shimmer

Poke - Wonderful shade of purple with blue shimmers

Poke - I captured more of the true hue outside

Untold - Ultrafine red glitter. I can't wait to layer this polish
