Elevation Polish Wyoming the Wild Collection swatches, review and giveaway
Wednesday, April 1, 2015
I have the Elevation Polish Wyoming the Wild Collection to share with you today. I am so excited about this collection as it is my home. So of course I have to share a little bit of information with you. Everything seems to run at a slower pace here. There are only 500,000 people in the entire state. Some of you live in cities that have more population than Wyoming. We actually have more antelope and cattle than people. The terrain varies from plains, to high desert to mountain ranges. There's a little bit of everything in this state.
When I read about the inspirations for these polishes I realized I take many of the scenic areas of the state for granted. I have started looking at them through new eyes. It really is an awesome state! I was so excited about this collection that I purchased an entire collection for a giveaway. You can enter via the Rafflecopter widget below.
OK, now that I have given you a geography lesson - let's move on to the Wyoming the Wild Collection.
This seven polish collection is varied - just as the terrain is here. There's a little bit of everything.
Let's take a look!
Grand Teton Sunset is a gorgeous purple creme. It's the kind of purple that sends my camera into a hissy fit. This color will look different depending on your skin tone. It can lean blue, it can be soft or it can be bright. This is three thin coats. This polish has a built in top coat so there is no need to add one. As a matter of fact, it doesn't play well with top coats. If you use one, you might notice some dark purple streaking. It dries relatively quickly. This vivid color amazes me and it does make me think of the gorgeous Tetons at sunset.

The majestic peaks of the Tetons were the inspiration for this polish.
Thunder Basin is the perfect rich dark brown creme polish. It's like a silky smooth dark chocolate. The formula is perfection. I used two coats and a top coat.
Antelope are plentiful in Wyoming. These "goats" are grazing in a grassland area of the Thunder Basin.
Cloud Peak is a scrumptious blue with black and multi colored flake shimmer and sparse holographic particles. This polish has it all - including ultra chrome flakes. The sky blue polish is gorgeous on its own, but the addition of the flakes and holographic flakes just tops it off. It applies wonderfully. This is two coats with a top coat.

Fireflies in a Dark Meadow is a magical polish. This black creme/jelly has ultra chrome flake shimmer and gold flake shimmer. This was once a popular SBP and is now part of the core collection with a few slight adjustments. She ramped the opacity up and gave the gold flakes top billing. The gold flakes come to life with every movement of your hand. This is two coats with a top coat.

Iceberg Lake is a dusty jade/mint with subtle pearl micro shimmer. It has the softest of pearl shimmers that was completely camera shy. But it is there. This is three thin coats with a top coat.
Whoa! Jackson Hole is a gray/greige holographic polish. When it's in indoor lighting it appears more gray. Take it out to play in the sun and it come to life and appears as a holographic taupe shade. It's also a subtle thermal polish! It changes its depth of color depending on the temperature. This is two coats with a top coat. Jackson Hole is really the Beverly Hills of Wyoming. Movie stars and millionaires such as Harrison Ford have homes there.

Speaking of stars - Hidden Falls is the star of this collection. The 23 k gold top coat is a gem. This is made from real 23K gold, each piece of gold is hand rolled and measured to get a precise amount of gold per bottle. It features larger pieces of gold than most other gold toppers. Because of the time it takes to make just one bottle and the gold itself, it does come with a $25 price tag. You may think the gold would be rigid, but it is supple and rests flat against the nail. I have it on here over Iceberg Lake.

This photo is of Hidden Falls. It can been seen with a bit of a hike and is in the Curt Gowdy State Park. Underneath the water there are tiny particles of gold.
I didn't do much nail art with these polishes. The polishes are stunning on their own. But I did add a bit of Fireflies in a Dark Meadow in a geometric pattern over Thunder Basin. They go together like peanut butter and jelly!
Which ones are you going to pick up on launch day? I love them all and can't pick a fave. But if I had to pick one and only one, it would be Thunder Basin.
Now for the giveaway. This is open to international entries. The giveaway ends at midnight mountain time April 16, 2015.

St. Patrick's Day nail art created with Salon Perfect
Monday, March 2, 2015
You can enter the giveaway here.
But in the meantime, let's look at a couple of the polishes. I couldn't decide what look I wanted to go for, so I created a mixed mani. I used KBShimmer nail vinyls to create the stripes on the index nail.
For this look, I used Sugar Cube - a pure white cream, Loopy Lime - a neon green creme, Sham-rock Your Socks Off - a fun green and white glitter (which is one of the custom blended polishes), Escape to Neverland - A Peter Pan green creme polish and Gold Leaf - a metallic gold polish. If you just can't wait to see if you win these, you can purchase the polishes from the core line at Walmart.

May the 'Luck of the Irish" be with you - Salon Perfect St. Patrick's Day Collection
Wednesday, February 25, 2015
Today's post is the first of several. Salon Perfect has put together a great St. Patrick's Day Collection. Four of the polishes are from the core line, and two of the polishes can only be obtained if you win a giveaway! They are custom-blended* polishes just for this giveaway. In other words, you can only own them if you win them. And the great news is -- twenty Set in Lacquer readers will win this St. Patrick's Day Collection. Yes, you read that right... 20 winners!
You can enter the giveaway here.
But in the meantime, let's look at a couple of the polishes. I created some simple nail art using Loopy Lime. I love this neon lime shade. It has the perfect bit of shimmer.
Then I added one of the custom-blended "only-own-it-if-you-win-it" glitters on my index nail. This is "Luck of the Irish." On the ring finger I added a wide diagonal stripe (I used KBShimmer's straight line nail vinyls to help) of Salon Perfect "Gold Leaf." The small shamrock was created using Loopy Lime.
Here's a closeup of Luck of the Irish. This clear based top coat has small green glitters and larger flakes of gold. It is perfect for St. Patrick's Day.
I am going to have fun with this collection. Stay tuned for more swatches and nail art.
These Salon Perfect Polishes are available at select +Walmart stores nationwide for $3.98. Well, except for the two custom-blended glitters. To get those you are going to have to enter and win! Salon Perfect has affordable, quality polishes. Make sure to check them out.

My top polish for 2014 is... (and a giveaway)
Tuesday, December 16, 2014
I have lots of polishes cross my desk and there are some amazing ones. But one polish stands out for me. When I was camping this summer, a friend and cohort in the polish world showed up for a few days. She had a polish on her toes that made me stand up and pay attention. I knew this polish must be mine and that I would need backups... and several backups at that.
She told me the name of the polish... Are you ready for my favorite polish of 2014?
It is...
Darling Diva Nightbird
This deep blue indigo polish is full of linear holographic goodness. It is simply happiness in a bottle. It applies like a dream and just makes me giddy. I adore it. I ordered this polish as soon as I got back to an area that had internet access. And I am so glad I did. Nightbird was released in January or February of 2014 and is still available on the Darling Diva online store.
But wait, I want to share this polish. So five lucky people will receive their own bottle of this amazing polish.
The giveaway is open to international entries and will end at Midnight, MST, Dec. 30, 2014. You can enter via the Rafflecopter widget below.
Watch for more of my favorites from 2014. This year was an amazing year for polish and believe me, it is difficult to narrow it down to a few.

Custom Elevation Polish - Iced Fog of Crystal Reservoir - swatches, giveaway
Monday, November 10, 2014
I have a very special polish to share with you today. Elevation Polish created a custom polish inspired by a recent camping trip - Iced Fog of Crystal Reservoir. And four of you lucky readers will be able to own this gorgeous polish.
A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time camping with Lulu, from Elevation Polish; Shannon, from Pahlish; and Sheila, from Pointless Cafe. It was quite a good time. Great company, good food, silly times, (nope, I won't tell any stories... but boy are there stories.) and... snow. It wasn't much, but it was still snow. Frozen fog hovered over the lake and you could see the ice crystals suspended in the air. That is how this polish came to be.
This was our camping spot. No snow yet...
I love blue polish, holographic polish and multichrome polish. So this is like my dream polish. The multichrome shifts from blue, to purple, and even an amazing teal. The scattered holographic shimmer is amazing as well. It's just like that fog over the lake. Okay, okay... I will get to the point.
Elevation makes some amazing polishes. Have you seen the newest collection - Hawaiian Punch? Six stunning shades!
Let's take a look. There are a lot of photos to look at. This beauty just loves the camera!
This is in direct lighting.
Look at the amazing gold shimmer in indoor lighting.
The next couple of photos are in the sunlight. The sun had almost set, so my skin tone looks a little rosy. But look at that sparkle and shift!
It simply thrives in all lighting. This is direct indoor lighting.
Now that you have seen this beauty, how about a chance to win one? Four lucky people will receive this gorgeous polish. The giveaway ends at midnight, Mountain Standard Time, on November 24, 2014 and is open to international entries. Good luck!
