Colors by llarowe - Stormy Skies for the June A Box, Indied swatches, review

Sunday, May 10, 2015

Today I have the Colors by llarowe polish for the June 2015 A Box, Indied. Stormy Skies is a gorgeous sea-water blue polish with shimmers.

The theme for June's A Box, Indied is nautical. I can't wait to see the other contributions for this box.

This polish is an amazing blue - it is a little deeper than an ocean blue. But that fits the name of Stormy Skies. It has the deep blue of the sky and the rosy pink shimmer that shows in the sky when the storm is over.

Let's take a look. This is three coats with a top coat. I had no issues with application. Unfortunately, it's been snowy here and the sun has decided to hide. So there are no sunshots to share with you.

Digital Dozen remembers childhood - Tire swing nail art

Thursday, April 16, 2015

It's day four of the Digit-al Dozen Childhood theme. I chose to do more detailed nail art than I have created so far for this challenge. I love this tire swing in a tree.

It actually wasn't too difficult I used a larger raggedy brush to dab on the leaves of the trees. I used Zoya Flynn for the brown dirt. Who doesn't remember the worn dirt area under the swing? Then I used Colors by llarowe Mile High Manicure for the blue in the sky. The rest was created using acrylic paints.

This brings back so many memories. A warm summer day in the swing; hair flying as we went to and fro. Times were simple then.

Let's take a look.

Digital Dozen Day One Tic Tac Toe Inspired Nail Art

Monday, April 13, 2015

It's Digit-al Dozen time again. The theme for May is "Childhood." For the first post I created some simple nail art inspired by the age-old game - Tic Tac Toe.

I used Colors by llarowe "Broncos Baby!" for the base color. Then I used OPI Alpine Snow for the grid, Xs and Os. I finished it off with a top coat of Girly Bits Polish Matte'rs for a matte finish. It almost gives it a chalkboard look.

This is a really simple mani, but I love the way it turned out.

Colors by llarowe "Luke, I am Your Father" for May, A Box, Indied

Today I have the Colors by llarowe polish for the May 2015 A Box, Indied. Luke, I am Your Father is a black linear holographic polish.

Well Hello Star Wars! This polish is definitely suited to the movie. This line between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in "The Empire Strikes Back" is one that will live forever. But I have to add that the quote is also one of the most misquoted lines in movie history. It is actually "No, I am your father." But that just doesn't have as much oomph, does it?

But I digress, let's look at this holographic black polish. The arcs are mostly blue, which gives it a blue tone in some lights. The prisms shine bright and bold and are a force to be reckoned with. The formula was great. I used two coats and a top coat for the swatches.

I am loving the polishes I have seen for May's box. They are all pretty amazing. That this one has so many personalities  - subtle and classy indoors, yet bubbly and vivacious in the sun.

The theme for May's box is May the Fourth Be With You and will also include offerings from Girly Bits (See my post on the Girly Bits polish here.), Different Dimension, Contrary Polish and Glisten & Glow.

A Box, Indied retails for $50 and will launch April 26th at Llarowe.com - at Noon and 7 p.m. MDT.

Colors by Llarowe - Colorado on my Mind Collection swatches, review

Sunday, April 12, 2015

I have some fun and cheery Spring jellies and crellies to share with you. These are from the Colors by llarowe Colorado On My Mind Collection and will launch on April 15, 2015.

These applied well and dried to a high-gloss shine. Jellies do require more coats than usual. But they have such a depth that they are worth it. And just think of the jelly sandwiches and pond manicures that you can do with these. I am sure I will create some nail art with these babies soon. So stay tuned!

Let's take a look. I didn't use a top coat with any of these and the shine is incredible. I didn't get even a hint of staining either.

Mile High Manicure is a medium blue crelly. This bright blue is going to be perfect to wear on it's own or as a base for some summer inspired nail art. This is three thin coats. I had no issues with application.

Wildflower Fields is a bright, almost neon blurple jelly. The color on this one is amazing. It's such a deep and vibrant color. This is three coats. I had no issues with application.

Garden of the Gods is described as a muted rosy pinkish purple jelly. If it is muted, I would love to see the unmuted version. This magenta shade packs a punch! This is four coats. I had no issues with application.

Broncos Baby! is a deep, yet bright and vibrant, royal navy blue jelly. The depth of this shade is mesmerizing. This is three coats. I had no issues with application.

Pike's Pink is described as a neon orchid. This strong, vibrant pink is sure to be an eye-catcher. This is four coats. I had no issues with application.

Where the Columbines Grow is a deep wine shade of jelly polish. I think this is my favorite of the collection. You can see the pink pigment peeking out around the edges. It makes it very dynamic. This is three coats. I had no issues with application.

Rocky Mountain High is a turquoise teal shade. This is probably the sheerest of the collection and I can't wait to use it in nail art. But the color... it's definitely the color of the skies in the Rocky Mountain region. This is four coats. I had no issues with application.

This is two coats with a top coat. I had no issue with application. It could easily be a one coater. I used two though - just to cover my ridges.
