Claire's Night Sky

Sunday, April 22, 2012

I think I probably started or finished a mani about five times today. Nothing was grabbing me.

But then I saw a gorgeous blue Color Club in my stash and on it went.

I love Color Club. Bright colors, great pigment and application. I just wish they had the names of the polishes on the bottles.

Color Club
Then I was off to apply some thing as a top coat. Luckily my FB friends helped me decide on what to use. Night Sky by Claire's!

I love this glitter polish. It shines and glitters with reds, blues, yellows -- all colors of the spectrum it seems... And it does glitter like the night sky.

I added a top coat of Seche Vite to bring out the shine and smooth out the surface. But Night Sky is a fine glitter and relatively easy to tame.

If you see Claire's Night Sky you should definitely add it to your polish collection!

The shine and shimmer is hard to capture with a camera though.

Happy Polishing!

Using that narrow silly nail art tape that I just HAD to have

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I recently purchased some of that shiny, sparkly, thin nail tape. I was so excited about it and immediately set about using it in a manicure. It looked great! For about one hour and then it started peeling off even though I had a nice top coat on over it.

So then I decided I would use it as a smaller version of scotch tape.

I put on two layers of Claire's glitter polish "Night Sky." It actually isn't a very "chunky" glitter polish but it has a wonderful sparkle to it. Then of course I applied a coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

Then I cut my tape and stuck it to my worktable where it would be easy to get to.

I put three pieces on my nail in a side star burst pattern.

I then applied a nice layer of Ultra Pro Black on top of the tape and over the entire nail. Make sure if you try it you pull the tape off immediately and pull it all off at once in a smooth motion.

The photo doesn't do it justice. It came out with a gorgeous iridescent pattern! This photo is without a top coat to smooth it out.

There you have it. A great way to use that narrow tape!

Claire's Magnetic Polish - I'm "drawn" to it

I recently read a review of Claire's Magnetic Polish by Cosmetic Sanctuary and I just had to run to Claire's and get some for my very own.

I used the rose colored polish and was positively enthralled with the results!

It looks almost brown in this photo but it really is a rich color of rose.  I used two layers of the polish and then just simply rested the lid on my cuticles for 10 to 15 seconds. The magnet has a really nifty little rest for just that purpose. I still managed to hit my nail on one of them though. (I am a klutz.)
Just like in a couple of the reviews I read the polish brush was a little wonky. But it worked fine with a little extra care. If for some reason you lift the magnet a little to early do not put it back down. It just smudges all the gorgeous lines created by the magnet into a big blob.

If you want the look of the magnet polishes without a huge cost this is the brand to get. It was about $8.50 and it had a special of get one and get one at half price.
