Battle of the Bloggers: butter LONDON butterfly nail art

Monday, June 16, 2014

I am so excited to be a part of the Total Beauty Battle of the Bloggers: Summer Spotlight. Several bloggers are participating and there are some amazing nail looks.

You will be able to take part in the Battle by voting for your favorite look. One lucky follower who "liked" the photo of the winning nail art on Facebook will receive Butter LONDON's Brilliant Bronze Trio Gift Set. I would love your vote in the Battle of the Bloggers.

Another way to enter is through the sweepstakes. Make sure to enter. Prizes includes Butter LONDON's Brilliant Bronze Trio Gift Set, the Summer Prep Collection by TotalBeauty.com and other beauty products valued at more than $250. Total Beauty has made this an U.S. only sweepstakes, but international followers can still vote.

Let's take a look at my entry in the Battle of the Bloggers" Summer Spotlight.

We were sent the butter LONDON Brilliant Bronze Trio to create our Summer Spotlight look. So I set to work. I knew I wanted to create a DIY decal look that would be summery and fun.

I started with a base color of  Poole on all my nails except for my ring finger. Poole is a tiffany blue shade with a hint of green - making it a soft, minty shade that is opaque in two coats. I used Torch for a base color on the ring fingernail. Torch is a shimmery bright orange shade. The shimmer is amazing.

Then I added a gradient using Marbs. It is a stunning, rich gold nail polish.

Then came the butterfly decals. After I made a couple of "sheets" of nail polish using all the shades, I used a punch to cut out the butterflies. Then I applied them to my nails and added a few random dots with a dotting tool.

I love how this turned out. It's subtle, yet classy and summery.

What do you think? Are you going to try DIY decal nail art?

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

I received some lovely butter LONDON polishes to share with you. butter LONDON polishes have a tremendous color palette with a choice for any fashion conscious lady.

From the butter LONDON website... "By transforming catwalk trends to custom nail colour palettes, butter LONDON has developed a passionate following. butter LONDON is the cult phenomenon of the nail industry and is fast becoming famous for our high fashion, 3 Free nail lacquers and revolutionary waterless nail services. butter LONDON products are formulated without the use of the harmful ingredients like Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or Parabens. butter LONDON was the first company to sell 3 Free nail lacquer in the United States."

I am sharing three polishes with you today. These polishes have a great formula. Application was flawless and the colors are rich in pigment and dry quickly to a high-gloss shine.

Let's move straight to the swatches.

Sloane Ranger - is an olive, khaki cream shade infused with silver shimmer. This is two coats. It is a very classy color that is perfect for several skin tones.

Scoundrel - is described as a medium tone purplish-mauve. I see a lot of deep lavender in this polish. This is two coats and a high-gloss shine.

Scouse - is a sheer, royal blue and indigo duochrome with pink, purple, and blue microglitter. The microglitter is predominately blue and the color shifts are amazing. This is three coats of complete glittery goodness.

I wanted to create some nail art with these polishes but the colors really didn't complement each other. I did do a gradient using Scoundrel and Scouse.

NOTD - Misa Russian Sage with Butter London Knackered

Sunday, August 5, 2012

A quick Nail Of The Day post for you. Misa Russian Sage with a topcoat of Butter London Knackered.

Misa Russian Sage was a blog sale find. I just love it. A light shade of purple that has lots of depth to the overall look. I added even more depth when I put a coat of Butter London Knackered on over it. I finished off the mani with a top coat of Dazzle Dry Top Coat.

I just love this. Wonderful microscopic flecks of holographic goodness. It shimmers from purple to gray with the flecks shining through with the colors of the rainbow..

Butter London swatches

I love Butter London polish. And once you see these swatches I am sure you will too. I have four lovely colors to share with you.

These swatches are with three coats. I probably could have gotten away with two though. The first coat of these polishes went on a little streaky. The second coat was smooth and silky. The third coat sealed the deal!

Let's move straight to the swatches. And ignore the lump on my pinkie nail. I had a tear and this was a temporary fix.

Big Smoke. I love this deep murky blue. The shimmer is subtle but glorious.

Zoya Ki and Butter London Knackered work well together

Sunday, April 1, 2012

After spending about an hour trying to decide what color and brand of polish to apply I decided to try my Zoya Ki. A wonderful, versatile duochrome.

The application was great. I do wish the brush were a littler wider though. The dry time was relatively quick. Although this polish is amazing on its own, I wanted something with a little more pop. Probably because the clothes I am wearing tomorrow are rather blah and brown.

I decided to add a topcoat of Butter London Knackered. Now I positively love it! Knackered goes on smooth and has very small glitters in it. Not too glittery but just a bit of sparkle.

If you don't own either of these gorgeous polishes then you need to put them on your list. This has moved to the top of the list for combinations.

Happy Polishing!

Kelly
