Elevation Polish: A Journey Told Through Music Collection swatches, review

Friday, January 2, 2015

It 2015 already. Where did the time go?

This is my first post for 2015 and it's only fitting that it's about one of my favorite brands - Elevation Polish. The "Journey Told Through Music" collection is gorgeous and has cremes, holos, duochromes and shimmers.

The collection is very cohesive and the formulas are spot on. There are six amazing polishes in the collection and also a Limited Edition "Yeti" polish this month. Each month I think that collection is my favorite - and the next month it's deja vu. She never ceases to amaze me. I love all of her polishes. The holos are heavenly and the shimmers are subtle and classy. Her creme polishes are easily my "go-to" cremes. I think I need them all - and I am working on it!

OK, enough of my rambling. Let's take a look. I have also created several nail art looks using this collection. So watch for them in the next few days.

Definition: The Vivid Unknown is what I would describe as a deep navy blue with a hint of teal. This shade is stunning. This creme polish has tremendous depth and applies like a dream. This is two coats with no top coat.

Just Like Night Time is a deep navy blue holographic polish, yet it seems to almost have a blackened look to it. The holo shimmer is strong, yet not over the top. It applied easily. This is two coats with a top coat.

This is in direct indoor lighting (there hasn't been much sun lately and even if there was, I would have to tromp through eight inches of snow to get to it.) The color is close, but a little lighter than it is in real life.

Quarter Past Midnight is one of my favorites of the collection. This shimmery duochrome polish has so many different personalities. The shift in color is strong and goes from a deep vibrant purple, to a dark blue, to a peacock blue. It's simply amazing. This is two coats with a top coat.

The Sea was Red is a super duochrome holographic polish that shifts from red to gold to orange. It's been brought back by popular demand, although with a few revisions. I love the coppery shimmer of this polish. This is two coats with a top coat.

And it stamps quite well! I didn't get a proper photo of this one as I wore this for Christmas Eve festivities and I just simply didn't have time. But I did grab this shot just to show you how well it stamps. I have it on over Quarter Past Midnight.

Storm in the Morning Light is a bluish gray shade. It is so hard to describe. But it is amazing. To be honest - when I saw it in the bottle I was sort of "meh" over it. But once I put it on my nails, my opinion changed. I love the dusty blue/gray shade. It is actually my favorite from the collection. This is two coats with no top coat.

Walk a Little Farther is a gorgeous sky blue with shimmer - and it is an amazing shimmer! The shimmer is shy though. I contorted my hand in all sorts of positions to try and capture it. It's very elusive. The shimmer has a ghostly quality to it. It adds tremendous depth to the polish. This is three thin coats with a top coat.

There! I managed to snag that shy little critter!

Now for the limited edition - "Yeti Hugs, Feels so Close" is a very light gray (almost white) creme polish with blue, pink and purple flake shimmer. I love this shade. It reminds me of fine linen gray paper. The flakes are tiny and add a stunning illusion of depth. This is two coats with a top coat.
