Digit-al Dozen - Fairy Tale Day 3 nail art

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

It's Digit-al Dozen day three. The theme for this month is Fairy Tales. This theme is definitely pushing me to try different things. This nail art is based upon the Russian Fairy Tale - The Tale of Finist the Falcon.

Once upon a time there was a rich merchant who was a widow and had three daughters. He often went on trips and asked the daughters what he should bring them. The oldest daughters always wanted jewels or fine fabrics. The youngest daughter only asked for a feather from Finist the Falcon.

After many trips and much searching, the father found a merchant who had a feather of Finist the Falcon and he brought it back home to his daughter.

She took it to her room in the castle and whisked it through the air. The feather turned into a fine falcon. She tapped her foot on the floor and the falcon transformed into a handsome man. They talked through the night. However the other sisters became curious and demanded to come in. The man turned back into a falcon and flew out the window. This continued for several nights. The older sisters became very jealous and put knives and sharp objects in the window so when Finist returned he would harm himself. He tried to enter the window and injured himself on the sharp objects and flew away.

After much searching for him, she found him. However he was under a sleeping spell and she could not awaken him. A tear fell from her eye and landed on his face. He immediately woke up and they returned to the castle and lived happily ever after.

For this nail art I used Elevation Cerra Torre 2 for the base color and then applied a newspaper print. I wanted to show that it is a story. Then I stamped feathers using Fancy Gloss Dark Chocolate. For the window scene, I created the arched window outline using Elevation Tettegouche and Temperance. The flowers and trees were created using acrylic paints.
