HPB October: Halloween Mani Link-Up

Saturday, October 25, 2014

It's the Saturday before Halloween and the Hobby Polish Bloggers (HPB) are doing a frightening fun festival of Halloween inspired manis. You can see all the great manicures for the link-up at the bottom of this post.

HPB will be doing monthly link-ups and I am excited to be a part of this month's Halloween group post.

Hobby Polish Bloggers is a group for bloggers who blog primarily just for fun or more casually. Hobby Nail Polish Bloggers is a resource for feedback, support, and guidance on your current blog or how to get your blog started. Check out HPB on Facebook if you're interested in joining.

Now, let's move on to the Halloween nail art. I did something completely different for me. I saw the idea on hellomaphie.com and just had to try it. It's pretty freaky and so much fun.

I started with a base color of Darling Diva "Queen of the Night" on all my nails except for my ring finger. For my ring finger I used Milani "White on the Spot" with a coat of OPI "Ski Slope Sweetie." Then I applied a coat of nail foil glue on my ring finger and let it dry. When it was completely dry, I added powder eye shadow to add some color variation.

I used white acrylic paint to draw the white part of the eye and then black acrylic paint for the outline. I created a large dot of Darling Diva "Dream Walker" for the blue iris of the eye. Then I added a few small dots of Darling Diva "We Need to Talk" to add dimension. One dot of black acrylic paint in the center and red acrylic paint for the bloodshot veins and the painting part of the eyeball was complete.

I used a top coat of HK Girl and let it dry completely. Then I used some cheap false eyelashes I had and cut them to size. I used the kind that already have a mild adhesive on them to hold them in place. Then I added a couple of drops of nail glue on the ends to hold them down better.

These are so much fun. Definitely not practical - but Halloween isn't about practicality. I am going to recreate these and wear them to work on Halloween. What's going to be on your nails for Halloween?
