Glisten & Glow Shea Butter Hand Scrub review

Sunday, May 4, 2014

I have only recently tried Glisten & Glow products. I must say I am in love with them. The scents are alluring and oh-so-delicious. So I am excited to be able to share the Shea Butter Hand Scrub with you. It's called Wild Nights in Seaside Heights and is part of the June, A Box, Indied subscription box.

The June box’s theme is Destinations. The destination for Glisten & Glow is Wild Nights in Seaside Heights. This hand scrub brings scents of papaya, mango, a splash of coconut, with the mist of the Jersey Shore's ocean breeze.

After opening the jar and inhaling the amazing and tropical scent, I dipped my fingers into the luscious, whipped hand scrub. It is as light as air. But don't let that fool you. It is a pretty powerful scrub.

I applied a quarter size amount of the scrub to the back of my hands and was amazed at how whipped, yet creamy it was.

But once I started to rub it and "scrub" the dead skin off of my hands I realized how intense the scrubbing beads (which is really pink sea salt and is environmentally safe) were. It's not too abrasive, but it let's you know it's working. I could feel those little granules working their magic. I massaged it into my hands for about three minutes.

Here's a close-up of the hand scrub. Look at how fluffy it is. You can see the granules here too.

After I used it and washed my hands, I loved the feel of my hands. They felt so soft and fresh. And they smelled pretty wonderful too!

Ingredients: shea butter, pink sea salt, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, vitamin e oil, tea tree botanical extract and premium grade fragrance oil.

Let's talk a little bit about her inspiration - The Jersey Shore.

The Jersey Shore is a favorite vacation destination of East Coasters. Millions make the annual pilgrimage to the various beaches on the shore each summer. By day, the Jersey Shore boasts famous beaches, boardwalks, funnel cakes, salt water taffy, pier filled amusements and everything in between.

By night, the Jersey Shore also dubbed “The Shore” takes on a whole new personality. The families have gone back to their motel or house rental and the 20 something’s come out to play! Seaside Heights is best known as the setting for MTV’s reality tv series – Jersey Shore Seaside Heights for the 20 something is the place to be for the summer!

Gather up your friends and rent a summer house. Don’t forget your favorite tunes and the hottest night club outfits. Beach bunnies by day - getting that perfect tan, playing volleyball, munching on boardwalk pizza and hot waffles + ice cream and taking a gamble at Frog Bog or the roller coasters on Casino Pier!

When the sun goes down the beach bunnies turn into club divas. Hair, make-up and outfits just right while getting ready for a night out at Club Karma, Jenks, Bamboo or Beachcomber! Getting Wild is not even the half of it. Tons of fruity drinks, the techno beats, fist pumps and dancing until your feet feel like they are falling off. Looking for Mr. Right or for maybe just tonight. All with the beautiful sand and surf in the background and in the distance the neons from the piers.

This will be available to order on May 26th as part of the A Box, Indied subscription box. Mark your calendars to visit Llarowe.com then. If you are already a subscriber, you are set. No need to rush. If you aren't - you will definitely want to get there at launch time.

The product in this post was sent to me for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

  1. Gee, you had me at the name Wild Nights in Seaside Heights! But I am staying away from anything with scrubbing beads or microbeads unless I know they disappear since too many are ending up polluting our waters. Hopefully, a brand with all the good ingredients like this product has is using beads that break down?!

    1. I edited the post. The scrubbing "beads" are actually pink sea salt. So it is environmentally safe. :)

  4. This sounds like good stuff. :) I usually just scrub with a mix of hand lotion and table salt. It is a heavy duty scrub that makes my dried out old hag hands look pretty decent. :D

  13. I need to give my hands some TLC; constant handwashing and sanitizing make 'em dry (I deal w/ patients that's why)

  15. Pink sea salt is the only kind of salt I use for cooking, I love the fact that this company included it instead of sea salt in this scrub.
