Tropical bird nail art

Well, everyone is freezing their tails off so I decided to take a break and go to the tropics. Well, my nails anyway...

I had an idea in my head and tried to create it on my nails. I like it! But it's funny how it never looks as good on my nails as it does in my head. But then again, EVERYTHING looks different in my head.

So I put on a base color of Zoya Breezi (this gorgeous blue/teal polish is one of my "go to" polishes and is about half full now.)

Then using acrylic paint I added leaves with varying colors of green and metallic pink flowers. I love using acrylic paint. You can get a 2 oz bottle for a couple of bucks and with just a few colors make almost any color you want. And if it starts to dry out just add a drop of water to get it to return to the consistency you want.

Also, save those margarine and sour cream lids. They make perfect little palettes and the paint, or polish, will peel right off so you can use it several times.

Then came the detailed work - the bird. Let me tell you this little bugger gave me fits. It's hard to tell if something is going to come out like you want until you are finished. It took lots of color and lots of detail but I am pretty pleased with him.  A top coat of Seche Vite sealed the art work and provided a high gloss shine.

I kind of like my little tropical friend.

The polishes and products in this post were purchased by me. All opinions are my own. Please note that computer monitors may show colors differently.
