Name that polish - guessing game

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

How many of you have checked out the local sale sites on Facebook. I am a member of a few of them and I am always watching for interesting things. A friend alerted me last night that there was a nail polish rack for sale. (I wasn't a member of that one yet.) I told her I wanted it and she hopped on there and snagged it for me. Little did I know that the polish came with it. So for $35 I got the cutest nail polish rack and some unknown polishes. I can't pick it up until Thursday so I have been trying to figure out what is on the rack. Where better to go to get information than to you gals?

A lot of the polishes are separated; but a few good shakes might revive them. I see a couple of OPIs on there and even an OPI DS. What do you see?

P2 - Sensual Purple swatches

Monday, December 30, 2013

I participated in an ornament swap this year. It was a secret exchange. No one knew who had drawn what name. So imagine my surprise when I got a package from France.

My package came from the lovely lady, Michaela, who runs The Mani Cafe

There were some adorable ornaments in that package. Even one that was handmade her - it looks just like a bottle of nail polish. The chocolate in the package was divine, and didn't last long.

The polish she sent is P2 - Sensual Purple. P2 is a German polish that I have never had the chance to try. And now that I have I must have more. This polish is from the Mirror Mirror on the Wall Collection and is stunning. It has that "lit from within" element that I simply adore in a polish.

Let's take a look at the photos. I used two coats of polish for these photos.

And if you don't follow The Mani Cafe on Facebook you should! She has some gorgeous swatches and nail art.

I Love Nail Polish - Birefringence swatches

Sunday, December 29, 2013

I have a lovely polish to share with you today. It's from I Love Nail Polish (INLP) and it is a gorgeous multi-chrome.

I have tried other INLP products and I am definitely going to have to go shopping to pick up some more of these gorgeous multi-chromes. The formula is wonderful and only took two coats for complete coverage. The wear seems great as I have been wearing it for three days. Other than a tiny bit of tip wear it is great!

Birefringence - shifts through an array of incredible blues, purples, reds, oranges, yellows, and even subtle greens. It is almost impossible to capture all of the colors on camera though. The photos below are two coats of polish with a top coat of Seche Vite.

My Top Ten favorite nail art looks of 2013

Thursday, December 26, 2013

I positively love nail art. Anything and everything to do with nail art. I often don't have as much time as I would like to create it though. I decided to look back over my nail art of 2013 and share them with you. And I love when you share your nail art with me. Feel free to share on my Facebook page.

I couldn't possibly choose a favorite. They were all fun to create. I have put the link to the individual blog posts so you can see what I used to create each of them - if you like.

These are in no particular order.

Flowers, trees and birdhouses

Who knew I would get inspired by a dishsoap?

Tinkerbell is one of my favorites - of the last several years.

I loved the contrast on this snowflake themed nail art.

Puppy dogs! Who doesn't love them?

I seem to lean toward floral nail art

As you can tell.

And more flowers.

And more flowers.

What's your favorite? Don't forget to share on my Facebook page!

Celestial Cosmetics Indie Nail Polish - swatches and review

Christmas is over and now I am back at it. I could never stay away long! I have too much fun with all of you! To start off the post-holiday blog posts I have a wonderful brand to share with you today - Celestial Cosmetics.

Celestial Cosmetics is based in Australia and has some heavenly polishes. I was so excited when I received a few of them from Color4Nails to share with you.

The formula on these polishes is phenomenal. Silky application and a wonderful shine.

Let's jump right into these amazing polishes. These swatches have two coats and a top coat of Seche Vite. The top coat didn't dull the holo effect at all. That's always an added bonus for me.

Chrome Amaranth - is a stunning metallic silver polish with different sized holographic red glitter and holographic particles. It's an exclusive to Color4Nails. I love the chrome effect and the red glitter adds a great deal of depth to the polish.

Holiday nail art - festive tips

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

So many things to accomplish today and so little time. I can't wait to spend the evening and tomorrow with family. It's my favorite thing about the holidays.

To celebrate the day I tried a little something new for me. Festive french tipped nails.

I used Zoya Blaze for the red tips and topped it off with swirls of Zoya Kerry and Trixie.

I love the look. Although I am not sure how often I will wear one like this. It seems so odd to see bare nail where I am used to seeing polish. :)

Holiday Poinsettia nail art

Monday, December 23, 2013

Red, green, gold and silver are such festive colors. Add a little sparkle and glitter and you have an instant holiday mani.

I used China Glaze Glistening Snow and Angel Wings for the base colors. Glistening Snow is a gorgeous silver holographic glitter and Angel Wings is an astonishing gold holographic glitter polish. For the poinsettia I used acrylic paints.
