Abstract floral nail art on black

Something about nail art on a black base makes it dramatic. I love floral nail art on almost any background. Which is strange because I am not much a a floral lover with anything else - well except in nature.

Today was one of those days when I didn't know what I was going to do on my nails. No preplanning, no design in mind... just painting. I ended up with something I kind of like.

I started with a base color of Zoya Raven. It's a gorgeous black polish with a hint of shimmer. It is one of my all-time favorite black polishes. Zoya is a wonderful quality polish.

I put several dots of metallic acrylic paint on my palette - that sounds fancy but it really is just the lid of a margarine tub. I used gold and a deep bronzed brown shade. I painted the gold in random stripes and swirls for vines and then used the bronze paint for leaves. I decided to finish it off with a few random flowers. I used metallic purple paint for the flowers.

I sealed it off with a coat of Seche Vite. I like the way the golds and bronze look against the black background.

It seems a little odd though since I filed the length of my nails down. But they will grow back pretty fast.

Have you ever started your nails with no definitive destination?

The polish in this post was purchased by me.
